Endodontics

Endodontics, or root canal treatment, is an excellent option for saving even teeth that have suffered severe damage.

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is the process of removing infected, injured or dead pulp from your tooth. The space inside the hard layers of each tooth is called the root canal system. Endodontic or Root canal treatment allows you to keep teeth that could not otherwise be saved. By saving the tooth root, we can prevent tooth loss and subsequent damage such as shifting of the remaining teeth, and osseointegration (damage to the jaw bone).

The Endodontic Therapy (Root Canal) Procedure

The first step in endodontic therapy is to remove the damaged and decayed portions of the tooth. As long there is enough undamaged tooth to serve as an anchor, the tooth can be repaired.

Once the diseased tooth pulp is removed, we will carefully clean and disinfect the remaining internal structure. It will then be filled with an inert dental filling material with dental cement to prevent re-infection from bacteria. Lastly, a filling to close the opening and/or to create the base for a crown.

Our Crowns page provides more detail on the procedures and materials involved in this step.

" What Our Patients Say About Us "

The friendliest staff I have ever had the privilege of encountering. Dr.Champney is not only extremely intelligent but he is patient, thorough and kind! I look forward to having a dental office I enjoy visiting.

As always, we had another great visit with Dr. Champney and his team. They have been taking care of my family for 8 years, and we'll never switch. Everyone is friendly, personable and are great with my kids, since they were little and now into their teens. Dr. Champney takes the time to do things right and makes sure we are comfortable at our visits. Would absolutely recommend.

I always dread deep cleaning but wow this was the most painless one I've ever had. The hygienist is super supportive and sensitive to needs. I would highly recommend this dental clinic.

We have been with Innisfail Family Dental from the time we moved here in 2010. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and Dr. Champney has always been thorough and honest with us. All of my children have had their wisdom teeth removed at the clinic and we have had zero complications. The office follows the dental fee guide and if we’ve ever had a concern with service or fees they were quick to come to a resolution. Keep up the great work!

100% recommend coming here. Excellent communication from everyone and extremely accommodating, even with a toddler and baby in tow. Very good and patient with children getting their teeth checked too! Was unlike any other dentist experience ever before, and felt truly listened to and had all their attention during the appointment.

Such a refreshing experience with Innisfail Family Dental. Everyone was so pleasant to deal with and Dr Champney took the time to sit with me and thoroughly go through all my X rays and questions I had. I felt so comfortable and heard. Thank you. My entire family will be going here.
